SOU: Final Exams
Final exams are a necessary part of your education. Whether you love
them or hate them, final exams are here to stay, and it's important to
know when to take them.

How to read the Final Exam Schedule
Follow these steps to determine the time of your final exams:
- Look in the exam tables and locate the first day and time the class
regularly meets.
- Move UP through the column to find the day of your
exam and move LEFT for time of exam.
For example: If your ENG 101 meets at 10:00 - 10:50 a.m. MTRF, then
Monday at 10:00 a.m. is the first day and time the class regularly meets.
Then look at the chart. Monday at 10:00 a.m. uses the time block, "Mon
or Wed 10:00am," This means your final exam is on the day and time
given in the TOP LEFT COLUMNS OF THE TABLE.
Procedure and Policies
When it comes to exams, keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Examinations are held in usual classrooms, unless instructed otherwise
by professor.
- Instructors determine their final examination times
and announce them to their students.
- Block exams are those for multiple
section classes that give common exams at the same time.
- There are
absolutely no major exams during "dead week." Final
exams are given only during the week designated for final exams. The
faculty passed this policy some years ago to protect students from undue
pressure in the final days of the term. The policy ensures that you do
not have exams that conflict in time and there should be ample time between
exams to take a break.
- If the first day and time your class regularly
meets each week is not listed in the * Final Exam Schedule, talk to
your instructor. Your instructor must make arrangements for an agreed
upon time that allows all students to take the final exam.
Evening Courses Final Exam Schedule
Evening courses conduct finals on the same day of the week as the classes
are normally held at the following times:
- Monday at 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Monday only classes, and classes
that meet Monday and Wednesday, starting after 5:00 p.m. and up to
7:00 p.m.
- Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Tuesday only classes, and
classes that meet Tuesday and Thursday, starting after 5:00 p.m. and
up to 7:00 p.m.
- Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Wednesday only classes,
and classes that meet Monday and Wednesday, starting after 7:00 p.m.
- Thursday at 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Thursday only classes, and classes
that meet Tuesday and Thursday, starting after 7:00 p.m.
