The
Higher Education Center (HEC) represents a one-of-a-kind partnership
in Oregon. The HEC strengthens the shared commitment Southern Oregon
University (SOU) and Rogue Community College (RCC) have had for years.
Their collective efforts better serve students at both institutions
through more efficient class scheduling, increased communication, and
centralized services. The Rogue Valley business community is served
by a new Business Center offering
students and organizational partners a variety of services.
Students attending the Higher Education Center can choose from two class schedules when fulfilling their lower division course requirements. Transfer students can get answers to all their questions about degree completion in one location, and students can register at either institution with ease. RCC and SOU faculty are housed together to increase communication and reduce barriers, while staff are cross-trained to answer questions and serve all students.
The HEC will also serve as the hub for professional development in the Rogue Valley. The business community will benefit from seminars, customized training, a business communication institute, mentorship and internship programs, and networking opportunities.
We are excited about the new Higher Education Center and our shared vision for student success and community support. Look for our grand opening September 2008.
